Badminton Horse Trials 2018: Entries confirmed for a world class competition

Entries have closed for the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials 2018 and the event promises to be a world class competition. Among those competing will be last year’s winner Andrew Nicholson (New Zealand) with the evergreen Nereo. While attempting to defend his title, he will be up against double Olympic Champion Michael Jung (Germany) and La Biosthetique – Sam FBW. This combination won back in 2016 and has finished 2nd twice before.

The home crowd will be cheering for Oliver Townend and his Burghley champion, Ballaghmor Class. Piggy French will also be popular among British supporters as well as three of the four members of the team that won the European gold medal in 2017. Namely, Ros Canter, Gemma Tattersall and Tina Cook.

Olympic bronze medallist Philip Dutton comes across the Atlantic to represent the USA  and there are representatives of 13 overseas nations.

Gates open at Badminton on Wednesday 3rd May. This event is a highlight on the Sloaney Season calendar. It marks the first big summer occasion and follows April’s Grand National. There will be over 500 shops in the shopping village and plenty of opportunities to socialise at the busy bars. Advance tickets have been selling in record numbers but there is still some availability via www.badminton-horse.co.uk.
