Cheltenham Festival 2018: Going likely to be soft for the opening day10 Mar 18
Rainfall continues to impact the going for the Cheltenham Festival next week....
The ‘Beast from the East’ that struck the UK at the start of March, and the rain showers that have followed in the west of the country since, have resulted in soft ground being highly likely at the Cheltenham Festival next week.
Clerk of the course Simon Claisse revaluated the Cheltenham going on Saturday morning. The going was eased to soft, heavy in places (from good to soft, soft in places) following a significant amount of rainfall. The forecasts are mixed at the moment and while the temperatures are rising this weekend, further rain is predicted by some.
