The Nevill Holt Opera is hosted at the beautiful home of Carphone Warehouse founder and British billionaire, David Ross. It celebrates up-and-coming talent and is a quintessentially British event.
What to expect at the Nevill Holt Opera
This year Britten – A Midsummer Night’s Dream will run on 12th, 13th, 15th and 16th June. Meanwhile, Mozart – Cosi Fan Tutte will run on 26th, 27th, 29th, 30th June and 2nd July.
The gardens at Nevill Holt open for a couple of hours prior to the start of the performance and guests can enjoy champagne and canapés on the lawn, while admiring the sculptures and floral displays. Dining takes place during the interval in a grand marquee.
Various members of London’s high society make the trip north to attend the opera. Prince Harry’s friend Guy Pelly is often seen in the crowd and Stephen Fry has previously attended. Many of the performers go on to become major opera stars as the event supports up and coming talent.
Event hotspots and hospitality
The Pommery Champagne Bar is situated in the main garden and this is a popular place for guests to enjoy pre-performance drinks. Some people also book out private mini-marquees for a picnic and drinks reception with invited guests. The spectacular Nic Fidden Green horse head sculpture in front of the main house gets plenty of attention too. A sit-down meal is served in the main marquee during the interval.

The evening performances are black tie and the afternoon performance requires you to dress smartly with a Jacket and Tie dress code. However, ladies should be aware that the drinks reception is on a lawn and platform or wedge heels would be favourable.
