Sloaney Season was founded by James Turner and Laura Toogood, who both have considerable experience of the luxury sector. The original meeting of minds took place at the Beaufort Polo Club. With a mutual love of The Season as a result of personal and professional interests in some of the key events, James and Laura had each identified a growing demand for a hub of knowledge to be created that centred solely around the many prestigious and fun social occasions that take place throughout the year. They had recognised the need for a destination portal that would exclusively service The Season by providing educational content, encouraging greater accessibility for those wishing to attend events and also presenting opportunities to luxury brands for digital focused partnerships. Their combined experience has proven invaluable in orchestrating the birth of Sloaney Season.

James Turner

James oversees the commercial and brand partnerships team

James Turner has been at the helm of USPi, which is an independent sponsorship and promotions agency that specialises in introducing luxury brands to HNWIs through event sponsorship and partnerships, for 15 years. He read Business and Marketing at university and spent the early years of his professional career at EMAP. With USPi, James has managed sponsors for events such as the Cartier Polo in the UK, Dubai and China, tennis at the Palace Abu Dhabi, Salon Prive, Glorious Goodwood, the charity polo matches for Prince William and Prince Harry, as well as Aston Martin Racing. His brand partnership experience includes Maserati, La Martina, Royal Salute, Pommery Champagne, Hildon Water, Wempe, Patek Philippe and NetJets to name a few. James also writes a regular column for the Savile Row Style Magazine.

Laura Toogood

Laura oversees the editorial team

Dr. Laura Toogood holds a PhD in Social Informatics and has many years of media experience. She also owns and edits the popular luxury lifestyle publication, The Sloaney and regularly collaborates with premium global brands across the beauty, fashion, travel and lifestyle sectors, including Belmond, InterContinental, Jo Malone, Edmiston Superyachts, Harrods and Selfridges, among many others. She is the author of two books and has written for a number of publications including The Telegraph, The Sunday Times and Spear’s Magazine, while also appearing on the BBC and ITV television as an expert commentator. She is also the founder of Fieldmaster Group. Laura is a former recipient of the Spear’s Magazine Future Leader in Wealth Management Award and the Woman of the Future for Digital and Technology Award.
