Miss England, Stephanie Hill, shares her style tips for Cheltenham Festival

Cheltenham Ladies Day Ambassador and beauty pageant winner, Stephanie Hill, provides some inspiration for the Best Dressed competition at The Festival…

She may be used to strutting her stuff on the catwalk and wowing beauty pageant judges, but Miss England, Stephanie Hill, will find herself in a very different setting when she takes up the reins as ambassador for Ladies Day at The Festival. Stephanie is no stranger to the equestrian world and has successfully competed in some high-profile competitions over the years. The Cheltenham Festival is the opening event on the Sloaney Season calendar and it will combine two of the model’s loves; horses and fashion.

We spoke to the fashionista ahead of the highly anticipated Ladies Day at The Festival, where entrants will be in with a chance of winning a brand new MINI car…

Stephanie Hill

Sloaney Season: Stephanie, you clearly have a passion for fashion. How would you describe your personal style?

Stephanie: My personal style is very classic. I am tall and I need perfectly tailored clothes to fit my body shape, so I like to keep my outfits simple. I also choose one standout element as the main focal point of my look.

Sloaney Season: There are some amazing prizes up for grabs for the best dressed women at Cheltenham this year, what are your style tips for those entering Ladies Day at The Festival?

Stephanie: Keep it classy. Always. There can be so much elegance expressed through a simple outfit. It helps to choose one part of your outfit to be the highlight. Perhaps opt for an extravagant fascinator or make a statement with your shoes. A standout bag or dramatic coat may work. Just one element should be the star of your outfit. Also, don’t forget to make it colourful to fit with the #ColourMeMarch theme for this year’s Ladies Day!

Sloaney Season: Will you be wearing designer or high street on the day?

Stephanie: It will be high street for me! I found the most stunning coat from STAR by Julian Macdonald and a Coast dress that works with the tone perfectly.

Sloaney Season: Do you have any tips for first-time racegoers?

Stephanie: Dress for all elements! Make sure your coat is well tailored and complements your outfit. It is also important to make sure all accessories follow this rule. If the sun does decide to come out, you want to make sure you are dressed for every possible outcome!

Sloaney Season: You have an interest in horses, please tell us a little bit more…

Stephanie: I have been riding since the age of nine and I competed in showjumping as a teenager. I have also competed on the showing circuit in Working Hunter classes. I was placed 4th at the Horse of the Year Show in the SEIB Search for a Star Working Hunter in 2012 and remain the youngest competitor in the history of that competition. I was on the first series of Horse and Country TV’s Blue Chip All Star Academy with my horse, Diamond Cavalier Royale. We finished 5th and he is now enjoying his golden years.

Sloaney Season: What do you love most about racing and why should The Festival be an essential date in the diary?

Stephanie: Racing perfectly unites the public with a love of horses. It is an appreciation of both human and equestrian athletes, which are at the top of their game. Ladies Day at The Festival gives the chance for people to showcase their creative flair in style, glamour and fashion. It is the perfect combination of the best in style and racing.
