Nevill Holt Opera: New Theatre Impresses22 Jun 18
The new theatre at the Nevill Holt Opera is a resounding success...
There has been much excitement about the unveiling of the new opera theatre at this year’s Nevill Holt Opera Festival and it has been very well received. The improvements to this venue have been a huge success. Renovations to the opera house have increased the capacity to 400 and there is now an outstanding acoustic setting within the old stable block.
This year, the event has run for more days than usual and performances have been sold out. The atmosphere is sophisticated and this is an utterly charming, quintessential English event.
Last night was the closing evening of the Marriage of Figaro, which has been performed for several nights. On arrival, many attendees stopped off at the Pommery Champagne bar to collect a glass of bubbles, before taking some time to browse the impressive collection of sculptures at Nevill Holt ahead of the start of the performance.
While the first half was relatively lengthy, it was energetic, fun and well-executed. During the interval some parties retreated to the restaurant to enjoy a three course dinner with a stunning panorama. Others had booked a private pavilion for a picnic in the summer sunshine before merrily making their way back to the theatre to admire the charismatic performers, led by the talented conductor, Nicholas Chalmers.
Powder Her Face takes place at Nevill Holt on the 28th and 30th of June
