Nicholson wins Badminton as Sloaney Season turns to Royal Windsor Horse Show

Andrew Nicholson won Badminton at his 36th attempt

It was an exciting climax to Badminton Horse Trials 2017 when the overnight leader, Ingrid Klimke, dropped down the leader board after collecting a number of showjumping faults. Fellow German rider, Micahel Jung also suffered from adding penalties to his score and this opened the way for Andrew Nicholson to take the top honours. Riding Nereo, he jumped an immaculate clear to rise from third place to take victory.

Following a hugely successful event to kick-start Sloaney Season, we now turn our attention from Badminton Horse Trials to the Royal Windsor Horse Show. This is one of the Queen’s favourite events and it is hosted in her back garden in the Private Grounds of Windsor Castle. The retirement of Nick Skelton and Big Star on Sunday is a highlight in the schedule, which is packed with international dressage, show jumping and driving competitions.
